School Closures - LATEST NEWS
Due to ongoing freezing weather and difficult travelling conditions, for everyone's safety, school will remain CLOSED on Friday, 8th January 2010.
Those staff who could travel safely went into school on Friday to start clearing snow. There is alot of snow in Milman Road and the pavements are very difficult to walk on. It has not been safe for anyone - motorists or pedestrians. We have managed to clear some of the paths, making walking a bit safer. We are very much hoping to open on Monday. If we are open, please do not drive to school - you will get stuck! I managed to get in on Thursday afternoon and got stuck - Angie, Lana and Melissa had to help me get out again! If we are open, you must make a decision about whether you can travel safely - those of you who live some way away and rely on cars may decide that it would not be safe for you to travel; we will understand genuine situations for absence.
There is more snow forecast for this weekend - I will wait to see how heavy the snowfall is before making a decision about Monday - please check your text messages on Monday morning; I will also inform the local radio stations.
I really hate having to close school and I know it causes many of you problems with child care arrangements. But, I have to think about how many staff can get into school safely and also the state of the roads you and your children will travel along to get to school - will you be safe? Thank you for being so understanding during this exceptional time. Fingers crossed for an open school on Monday! Remember - DO NOT bring cars down Milman Road!
