Holidays During Term Time
I have had a number of requests this term for children to take holidays during term time. The law is very clear in that it is not expected for holidays to be taken during term time except in exceptional circumstances. I have discretion to authorise holiday but only in these exceptional circumstances – unfortunately cheaper flights do not usually count as exceptional. Parents are reminded to request holiday leave before any bookings are made. As a general rule, holiday absence will not be authorised. If a holiday is not authorised, it may be that the Education Welfare Service will become involved.
